What You Will Do:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will lead a team of quality assurance analysts and be responsible for efficiently testing software solutions.  He or she will work closely with the project management office (PMO) to take an active leadership role in driving improvements in the software testing methodologies that contribute to successful project delivery.  The successful candidate will be the direct supervisor of quality assurance team members, both onshore (U.S.) and offshore.  The candidate must have first-hand quality assurance experience with proven leadership, management, team building skills, and automation.

Establish and Maintain Quality Assurance Best Practices

  • Establishes best practices for test documentation, standards, and test processes.
  • Identify gaps and areas for improvement in quality process, tools, and skills. Implements needed improvements.
  • Applies knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve quality of our products
  • Ensures projects follow standard processes for test planning, test case development, test execution, tracking, and status communications
  • Establishes test standards based on project size, scope, impact, risk, and other factors that may impact the level and type of testing required.
  • Establishes and manages testing practices for performance and automated testing of software and systems.
  • Owns the testing lifecycle and is responsible for managing and communicating quality risks and issues throughout the project.

Management of Quality Assurance Department

  • Manages QA team development, including career growth, skills training, and team growth to keep up with the demands of project execution and corporate growth goals.
  • Assigns quality assurance leads to oversee daily activities of QA team. Maintains accountability for ensuring that the proper level of testing is completed.
  • Works with Software Development Manager and project managers to ensure projects are staffed with the properly skilled QA analysts
  • Communicates and enforces quality assurance test standards for consistency and awareness within QA team and among other managers where necessary
  • Ensures proper completion and filing of quality assurance documentation as needed

Ownership and Coordination of Quality Assurance Activities

  • Works closely with the software development team and project managers to understand priorities and to recommend sequence that maximizes efficiency of development resources while accounting for dependencies and resource constraints.
  • Reviews project scope and requirements in order to determine necessary level of testing, and to staff projects properly
  • Identifies gaps and raises questions that need to be answered in order to plan and execute the proper level or testing.
  • Provides project manager with quality assurance tasks and milestone details to be tracked on the project plan
  • Maintains communication with quality assurance team members to ensure tasks and dependencies are managed across the QA team.
  • Owns the quality assurance process and ensures applicable levels of testing are completed in order to ensure readiness for software and system deploys.

Do you qualify?

  • 5+ years' experience leading a quality assurance or software development team.
  • 5+ years' experience as a lead quality assurance engineer or analyst.
  • Demonstrated history of a passion for quality.
  • Experience in managing web based application testing, and mobile applications.
  • Experience with various forms of testing including ad-hoc, automated, performance, stress, and user acceptance testing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and influence skills.
  • Proven track record in utilizing test automation and performance test tools.
  • Proven track record of developing best practices for testing, documentation, and approval of test activities.
  • Comfortable with fast-paced, schedule driven development.
  • Experience with Agile Development Methodologies.
  • Strong management and leadership experience.
  • Strong problem solving skills and experience bringing clarity to initiatives.
  • Experience leading global project teams while interacting with project managers, software and hardware managers, business and functional analysts, developers, and the business community to maintain and promote quality assurance objectives.
